Master Bedroom Reveal

ITS HERE! I have finally gotten to a place with our master bedroom where I can show you some reveal photos and information. Our bedroom is not done yet in my eye, I would like to add in some more decorative accents for sure. Decorate the dresser properly, switch out the night stands at some point etc. But as goes with design its ever evolving, changing, editing and fine tuning. I am so happy how it turned out. When I was designing this space in the beginning I really didn't have a strong vision of what I wanted the room to look like. I just knew how I wanted it to feel, and from there it just came together. I wanted the bedroom to feel calming, cool, yet cozy. I have a hard time sleeping so I do as much as I can to help myself sleep easier. You can read all about the finishes chosen in this previous post. I share everything from paint colour, light fixture, flooring etc. Can we all take a moment of silence for this BEAUTIFUL mirror/art piece. I was luckily enough to...

Window Replacment!

We got our windows replaced back in July of this year which was a big job! We had 13 windows replaced and still have 3-4 remaining. The windows desperately needed to be replaced as observed during the winter when the windows frosted over so badly you could not see through them or open them. You could see some water damage occurring on the corner in the master bedroom. I called several Edmonton companies and received about 5 quotes. And after research and discussion we chose to order through Sunview Windows and Doors . We felt like the quality of the windows were a little better than others and they were able to work with us on the price a bit. Plus they filled out all the paper work for the provincial rebate which was nice since not all companies offer that service. This was a hard bill for us to swallow but it was so important to get the windows updated and we knew this was a project needing to be done when we bought this house. I am so pleased with how the windows worked ou...

Master Bath Reveal

ITS THAT TIME! We are finally showing off the completed master bathroom transformation. I say this because I feel like it truly was a transformation. It is NOTHING like it used to be and almost everything is brand new. We have been living with it for a few months now and I am OBSESSED and we are so proud of our hard work. We love to show it off when we have friends and family come to visit and I have had a few comments of "shower of dreams". UGH! I love hearing that because it really is for me. Before I HATED this old space. I refused to even use it. It was so cramped, you couldn't even get dressed or dry your hair in there. And I HATED the carpet. The main reason why I refused to use that space. So so gross. After Its hard to believe that the entire bath used to fit in the toilet room and shower space area. I love the extra space we now have. I cannot express how much I love our bathroom or which is my favorite part, as it kind of all is. The bathr...

Second Level Hallway Finishes

Before I share the master bathroom reveal (coming Friday) I thought I would continue to share the finishes that we used. Today I am sharing the second floor hallway which is much shorter than the others since there is not too much to share. Currently we have not switched out the rest of the doors on the second level which does look quite odd, but that will be done in time. I was in no rush to switch out the door as the existing doors were completely functional. By doing this we saved some dollars at the present time since we were at the end of the project and didn't want to keep spending. Paint The walls are Benjamin Moore Gray Owl (OC-52)  50% lightened while the trim is Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace (OC-65) . Flooring The floor that is now throughout the second level and will continue down to the main is a luxury vinyl. I was told about this kind of floor from my sister-in-law, her parents had this type of flooring in their home. I researched the product and like the fact...

Stairs

When we moved into the house I knew I wanted to change a lot of things. The change I felt like would make a big statem would be the stair railing. Stairs can make a big statement on a homes appearance and can be a big focal point. The original railing was very dated, not the look I was going for and not super sturdy feeling. I'm sure it was structurally sound but because it was iron and all welded into one piece, you could shake it and the entire thing would wobble. If I had all of the money I would have LOVED to have a matte black iron railing but the quote I received was wayyyy out of my comfort zone, especially for something that would not add value to the home. We hoped we could DIY this project to save a good chunk of money, but the logistics of a stair railing especially with the eastern style stairs we have with the turn and drop we did not feel comfortable when it is just a big safety feature. I contacted several companies in Edmonton and went with Artis...
