Hello, hello!


Welcome to That's So 70's, a blog following our experience updating our first home that was built in the 1970's. This is a good way to keep all family and friends up-to-date since over the first phase of the renovation. We had many questions seeking up-dates I thought instead of messaging everyone privately this would be easier for people to come and check out what's been going on; view progress pictures and ask questions.
I will start going back in time from house hunting to initial demo then moving forward to current and future projects. The majority of our renovation is DIY to save us money and to really get to know our home and so we can say we did that with pride.
I also want to dabble into my other passions which are interior design, fashion, beauty, and cooking. Apart from home updates this will share life updates and a place for me to throw in some of my creative cravings and an outlet for my thoughts, as I typically have a lot to say.

Master Bedroom Reveal

ITS HERE! I have finally gotten to a place with our master bedroom where I can show you some reveal photos and information. Our bedroom is not done yet in my eye, I would like to add in some more decorative accents for sure. Decorate the dresser properly, switch out the night stands at some point etc. But as goes with design its ever evolving, changing, editing and fine tuning. I am so happy how it turned out. When I was designing this space in the beginning I really didn't have a strong vision of what I wanted the room to look like. I just knew how I wanted it to feel, and from there it just came together. I wanted the bedroom to feel calming, cool, yet cozy. Master Suite Progress

Slowly but surly the master suite started to look like a livable space. It took up from February to June to be at the point for drywall to hang. The drywall and ceiling took I believe 2 weeks to completion and as soon as it was done I was painting. We started by moving out of our bedroom to one of the guest bedrooms, this room could only fit our bed which we had to skootch by the end of the bed and wall to access the closet. The dresser and my makeup station was in the other guest bedroom. We lived there for 5 months. When it was time for drywall we moved our bedroom to the main level, in the back living room where the fireplace was located. This was alright as we could fit all furniture in the room, and having the sliding back door open at night was nice to help cool us off in the hot summer nights. I did miss sleeping on our bed frame. When we moved down stairs we didn't bother setting up the bed as it was temporary. We slept there for another 2 months.    ...

Living Space Inspiration

For the living space I want it to be comfy and welcoming yet functional and child friendly (for future, currently nonexistent children). My goal for this entire renovation process is to keep everything as timeless as possible and to think ahead. For intense The entire house is carpeted, minus the kitchen, mud room, and upstairs guest toilet. When we were working on our first phase of the project to removed all of the carpet on the second floor and replaced it with vinyl "wood" flooring. I was suggested to have vinyl in the guest bedrooms as it is easier to clean from potential spills and accidents. Below I will insert pictures off my Pintrest board (which I use as a vision board) for each room.
