Entry Way Inspiration

Currently I am OBSESSED with bloggers and DIY'ers Chris Loves Julia home. If I could replicate their beautiful home I would. I love the layout of their home, the landscaping and Julia's impeccable design taste. I have recently discovered these two and am drawing so much inspiration from their home and hope to implement it into ours. To me their home is the perfect combination of decorated and put together without looking TOO overdone and stuffy.
I LOVE their entry and hope to use some of the items they used when we are able to tackle this space.
Below I will insert pictures off my Pintrest board (which I use as a vision board) for each room. If I know the source I will embed them in the picture, but I have mainly seen these off Pintrest and unsure of original source.

I also like these spaces. I hope to put some sort of dresser or table in the space between the upstairs and downstairs.

Master Suite Inspiration

The inspiration I have for our updates are modern farmhouse, modern, and cozy. I have been stalking through Pintrest and Instagram for ideas and have so many things I love and hope to incorporate into our home. Below I will insert pictures off my Pintrest board (which I use as a vision board) for each room. If I know the source I will embed them in the picture, but I have mainly seen these off Pintrest and unsure of original source. Master Bedroom I really wanted this space to feel calm, relaxing, cool yet warm and comfy. I have a hard time sleeping already so anything I can do to help myself get in the mood for some long zzz's I'll do it.              En-suite En-suite bath we really wanted to make it functional for our needs. I don't take baths really so having a bathtub would not be the most practical of choices so we opted for a large walk in shower. I also really liked the idea of having between stud built in shower storage. I though...

About Us

Before I divulge into our home buying process I thought I would give you a quick blurb about us and our background. Incase you did not know. Which most of you do.... I work as an administrative assistant in health care. This job is great for my need to want to help others and allows me to be super OCD, organized, and at times bossy, however lacks creativity. I remember always loving interior design. As a child, like 8 years old or something one of my favorite TV channels were HGTV. I loved watching TLC's Trading Spaces, House to Home, and Debbie Travis' Facelift. I remember writing to interior design and host House to Home telling her how much I loved her show and how I wanted to be an interior designer just like her. Which is still true. I feel like I am a very practical/logistical person. If being and interior designer was a guaranteed good earning job I would be all over that. Along with being terrible at math is a bit of a set back as you need the highest high scho...

House Hunting

This is our first (and hopefully last) home. We purchased it back in February 2018 and was drawn to its potential and beautiful backyard. Darrel really wanted a home with large trees and a backyard. Since he grew up living on an acreage it was important to him to have similarities to country living while living in the capital city. During our house hunt that took place between December of 2017 and January 2018 we found it difficult to find a house in Edmonton that checked all our boxes. 1) Larger backyard 2) Trees 3) 3-4 decent sized bedrooms 4) 2-3 bathrooms 5) Double attached garage 6) South Edmonton 8) Close to schools and parks 7) Price As mentioned it was important to Darrel to have a larger backyard with larger tree's which essentially eliminated all newer built homes. We did see a few online listings and the problem with these newer built homes in Edmonton and probably other areas is they are so squashed together. A lot of the times your back yard consists of ...
